Obituary for Betty Seawell

Betty Seawell
BETTY SEAWELL

ALAMO - Betty Seawell, 93, died peacefully Friday, February 2, 2018, at Mission Nursing Home.
Betty was born March 11, 1924 in Gonzalez, Texas. Her love of animals came from her father, a veterinarian who settled in Pharr. She attended Business College in Dallas as a young woman, leading to her life long career as a bookkeeper at Texas State Bank. She had an affinity for horses, dogs, and birds. Betty was a long time resident of Alamo, where she enjoyed BBQ’s with her family and gatherings on holidays. She especially enjoyed being outside in the springtime when the mesquite trees and cactus blossoms opened.
She is preceded in death by her husband, C.L. “Pete” Seawell; a daughter, Lucy Haynes; and her parents, James and Mary L. Wilkinson.
Betty is survived by her two children, Jamie Morgan of Premont, Emily (Stephen) Spoor of Mission; five grandchildren, Scott (Alicia) Meeks, Russell (Faye) Spoor, Lash (Leeann) Hutto, Stefany (Gauge) Gonzalez, and Bryan Spoor; and three great-grandchildren, Nikki Vanderpool, Tyler Vanderpool, and Caliber Gonzalez.
Graveside service will take place at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.
“Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, she became a butterfly.”
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
