ALFREDO V. ACEVEDO
EDINBURG — Alfredo V. Acevedo, 64, died Friday, October 21, 2011, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Born in Dallas, Texas, Mr. Acevedo had lived in the Rio Grande Valley throughout his life. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Acevedo received his Bachelor and Masters Degree in Education and was employed as a school teacher for 34 years. He worked at Progreso ISD, Mercedes ISD, Brownsville ISD and, most recently, Hidalgo ISD.
He is preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe Acevedo Jr.
Mr. Acevedo is survived by his wife, Carmen Acevedo, of Edinburg; five children, Alfredo Acevedo Jr., Abraham Acevedo, both of McAllen, Adriana Acevedo, of Pharr, Alex Cruz (Gloria) Acevedo, Angel Guadalupe Acevedo, both of Edinburg; nine grandchildren; his mother, Delfina Villarreal Acevedo, of McAllen; a brother, Guadalupe (Noemi) Acevedo III, of McAllen; and a sister, Minerva (Larry) Perez, of Houston, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, October 24, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
