GENARO ACOSTA SAN JUAN – Genaro Acosta, 81, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at his residence in San Juan. He is preceded in death by a son, Ricardo Acosta; his parents, Daria and Isaac Acosta; two brothers, Guillermo and Fidel Acosta; a sister, Teodora Fonseca; a daughter-in-law, Sylvia G. Acosta; and a great-grandson. Mr. Acosta is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Acosta; ten children, Genaro (Margarita) Acosta Jr., Norma Linda (Jesus) Sanchez, Reynaldo (Lupita) Acosta, all of Pharr, Mario Acosta, Humberto (Ruby) Acosta, Hector (Diana) Acosta, all of San Juan, Patricia (Braulio) De La Garza, Guillermo (Angie) Acosta, both of Alamo, Jaime (Amy) Acosta, of Donna, Israel (Daisy) Acosta, of McAllen; 32 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Cecilio Acosta, of Chicago, IL; and three sisters, Orelia Soto, of McAllen, Amelia Flores, of Pharr, and Enedina Acosta, of Harlingen. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, May 26, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Dad, throughout the years you raised us to be fighters, saying “Fight for your beliefs with conviction and never give up, no matter the odds.” You have taught us well and we will always remember you.
