Adelaida "Laya" T. Soto

September 22, 1938 — December 28, 2023

San Juan

God looked around His garden,

And He found an empty place.

And then he looked down

upon the earth,

And saw your tired face.

He put His arms around you,

And lifted you to rest.

God’s garden must be beautiful,

He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering,

He knew you were in pain,

He knew that you would never,

Get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough,

And the hills were hard to climb,

So He closed your weary eyelids,

And whispered, “Peace be thine.”

It broke our hearts to lose you.

But you didn’t go alone,

For part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.

Special Thanks to the numerous Nurses, CNAs and Doctors on the 2nd, 4th floors and the 3rd floor Rehab Center at Rio Grande Regional Hospital.

There were many staff members we grew fond of during her 10 weeks stay, but too many to name.  The Front Desk clerks, Security, Food Service, Case/Social Workers, Lab staff and House Keeping.  They made our 24 hour stays with mom comfortable.

A very Special Thanks to her “Rehab team” who made it possible for mom to go home. (Cesy, Ramon, Jean, Rolando, Thelma, Jesse,  Jesse, Fabi, JC, and Pete).

We would like to thank Dr. Ruby Guajardo, Dr. Hector Soto, and Dr. Luis Reyes for the special care given to our mother.

Also, a very special thank you to her Hospice nurse, Samuel Pacheco and Heavenly Hospice Home Care.
