Aida Sloss Bravo, a beloved figure of San Juan, departed this world peacefully on Friday, June 21st at McAllen Medical Center surrounded by her family and loved ones. Aida, a retired Sheriff Deputy for the Hidalgo County Sheriffs Office, lived a life of service to her community and to her family. In addition to her career in law enforcement, Aida Bravo blazed trails as the first female firefighter for the San Juan Volunteer Fire Department. A fearless woman, Aida Bravo will be remembered for her bravery, her strength and her witty sense of humor.
Aida joins her parents, Manuel and Soila Sloss; her sister, Elia Sloss; and her brothers David and Armando Sloss, in heaven. She is survived by her husband, Enrique Bravo Jr; four children; Jessica Lozano (Luciano), Marco Antonio Bravo (Francis), Enrique Manuel Bravo (Koko), Siobhan Bravo (David); eight grandchildren, Gregorio Zamora IV, Christina Zamora, Jessenia Cantu, Marco Antonio Bravo Jr., Derick Bravo, Zedrick Bravo, Ezequiel Enrique Bravo, Mario Torres Jr.; a grandchild on the way, Baby Bravo; and six great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Romeo Sloss, Manuel Sloss, Yolando Salinas, Diana Sloss, Criselda Borjas, and Margot Sloss.
To honor her wishes, there will be no funeral service. We invite everyone to please privately celebrate Aida Bravos memory in your own ways. Cremation will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
