PABLO ALANIS ALAMO - Pablo Alanis, 88, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, at McAllen Medical Center, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Mr. Alanis was born in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and had lived in Alamo all of his life. He is preceded in death by his son, Ernesto "Ernie" Alanis; his parents, Juan and Julia Alanis; two brothers, Jose and Juan Alanis; and a sister, Gregoria Alanis. Mr. Alanis is survived by his wife, Lucia Alanis, of Alamo; three daughters, Julie (Kevin Lee) Mason, of Alamo, Diana (Larry Joseph) Gilliam, of Florence, Kentucky, Alma (Joe) Vera, of Alamo; his beloved caregiver, Bertha (Santana) Perez; four grandchildren, Homero (Sonya) Garza, of San Juan, Patricia Dawn Garza, of McAllen, Ross (Donna) Gilliam, of New Braunfels, TX, Austin Gilliam, of Austin, TX; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Garza, Reena Garza, Steven Gilliam; two brothers, Pedro (Yolanda) Alanis, of San Antonio, TX and Francisco (Dora) Alanis, of Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. celebration of life Monday, April 15, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
