ELIBERTO ALANIZ, SR.
SAN JUAN - Eliberto Alaniz Sr., 79, died Thursday, June 2, 2011, at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in San Juan, Mr. Alaniz had lived there all of his life and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He is preceded in death by a son, Ricardo "B" Alaniz; and a daughter-in-law, Thelma C. Alaniz.
Mr. Alaniz is survived by his wife, Elvira Alaniz; two sons, Eliberto (Julissa) Alaniz Jr., of San Juan, Javier (Becky) Alaniz, of Alamo; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Alaniz, of San Juan; six grandchildren, Vanessa, Ricardo Jr., Jenarae, Erick, Annemarie and Alyssa Alaniz; and two great-grandchildren, Thelma Marissa and Andrew Ayala.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary Suday, June 5, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Monday, June 6, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
