SAN JUAN- Elsie Alaniz, 88, went home to the Lord on Monday, December 18, 2017, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg.
Born in San Juan, Mrs. Alaniz was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alberto Garza. Among her many talents, she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and sister. We are all blessed to have learned many valuable lessons from her throughout our lives.
Elsie’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Elsie’s kind and gentle spirit will live on through them. She had a passion for gardening, loved spending time with family and friends, and a zest for life.
Elsie is preceded in death by her husband, Alberto Alaniz, Sr.; parents, Alberto and Maria Garza; a sister, Isabel Garza; a brother, Abel Garza; and a daughter-in-law, Ani (David) Alaniz.
Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Noelia Alaniz, Rogelio (Sylvia) Alaniz, Rosalinda (Rolando) Martinez, Alberto (Corina) Alaniz, Jr., David Alaniz; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Irma Garza; and brother, Federico Garza.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Cremation will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
