EUSTOLIA G. ALANIZ ALAMO – Eustolia G. Alaniz, 79, died Monday, February 24, 2014, at her residence in Alamo. Born in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, she had lived in Alamo most of her life. She was an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, participated in Comunidades de Base, and was a member of the Prayer Blanket ministry and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was also active with Valley Interfaith, Valley AIDS Center, and the Multicultural Center. She is preceded in death by her husband, Inocencio L. Alaniz(1999); three children, Elias Alaniz (1987), Noe J. Alaniz (1994), Norma Elia Alaniz(2007); her parents, Pedro and Maria Gonzalez; a sister, Nora Elia Ramirez; two brothers, Jose Gregorio Gonzalez, Abel Andres Gonzalez; and a sister, Manuela G. Perez. Mrs. Alaniz is survived by five children, Maricela (Walter) Waddington, of Huntsville, Alabama, Rose Marie Alaniz, Inocencio Alaniz Jr., Jesus Antonio (Virginia) Alaniz, all of Alamo, and Rafael (Elizabeth Segovia) Alaniz, of Mission; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Pedro Gonzalez, of McAllen, Carmen (Rogelio) Perez, of Santa Rosa, and Rosa Isabel (Frank) Degollado, of San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
