MAXIMO ALCOCER EDINBURG — Maximo Alcocer, 80, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. Mr. Alcocer had lived in Edinburg most of his life. He is preceded in death by two children, Luis Alfredo Alcocer, Martha Alicia Alcocer; his parents, Luis and Zenaida Alcocer; and two brothers, Arturo Alcocer, Jose Luis Alcocer. Maximo is survived by his wife of 54 years, Severa Alcocer of Edinburg; five children, Alejandro Alcocer, Ana Maria (Elias) Tamez, Miguel Angel (Rosario) Alcocer, Rosa Dina Alcocer, Sandra (Chris) Casperson, all of Edinburg; 15 grandchildren, Melissa Randall, Elizabeth Thornton, Joseph E. Lavin, Nancy T. Garza, Elias Tamez, Jr., Sierra A. Lopez, Saul J. Tamez, Andrew J. Valdez, Miguel A. Alcocer, Jr., Ana Luisa Tamez, Cynthia M. Alcocer, Brenda N. Alcocer, Luis A. Alcocer, Stephanie Alcocer, Remi A. Alcocer; six great-grandchildren, Isabel Castro, Tyler Pierce, Jacob J. Garza, Ignacio Lopez, Jr., Layla A. Lopez, Devon Randall; and three siblings, Francisco Alcocer, Maria Del Rosario Rivera, Maria Mercado. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service today, June 29, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2014, at Christian Life Church, 321 N. M Rd. in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
