JOSE LUIS ALONZO SAN JUAN – Jose Luis Alonzo, 93, died Thursday, January 8, 2015, at his residence. Born in San Benito, he had lived in San Juan all of his life. Mr. Alonzo enjoyed building cabinets and all kinds of carpentry work. He retired from P-SJ-A ISD after 15 years of service and became a carpenter. He is preceded in death by his parenst, Jose Luis and Leandra Alonzo; two half-siblings, Maria del Refugio Rosales and Genaro Alonzo. Mr. Alonzo is survived by his wife, Beatriz Cavazos de Alonzo, of San Juan; four daughters, Raquel (Luis) Macias, of Harlingen, Rebecca Puente, Maria del Rosario Alonzo, Ernestina (Ike Jr.) Galindo, all of San Juan; three granddaughters, Debbie Puente, Leslie Galindo Hilburn, Sandra Martinez Blanco, three grandsons, Joey Puente, Ike Galindo III, Gaspar Martinez Jr.; six great-grandchildren; and four half-siblings, Maria Molina, Margarita Salas, Rosendo Alonzo, all of San Juan, Francisca Ramos, of McAllen. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Monday, January 11, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. The family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice for the care and support given to Mr. Alonzo. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
