PABLO R. ALVA MCALLEN – Pablo R. Alva, 104, died Thursday, January 2, 2014, at McAllen Medical Center. Born in Mexico, he had lived in McAllen most of his life. Mr. Alva was a member of Iglesia Del Valle Santa Pentecostes in San Juan. He was retired from CP&L. He is preceded in death by his wife, Amelia Alva; a son, Miguel Alva; a daughter –in-law, Dora P. Alva. Mr. Alva is survived by his son, Lionel Alva of McAllen; daughter-in-law, Mercedes Alva of Houston; eight grandchildren, Lionel (Annette) Alva, Jr., Eddie (Sylvia) Alva, Sally (Pablo) Guerra, Mari (Cande) Saenz, Alma Alva, Adrian Alva, Bianca (Brian) McCarver, and Laura Alva; nine great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Dulce Esperanza Home Health; and his caregivers, Lupita Rojas and Cecilia Herrera. A prayer service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral Service will take place at 1 p.m. today, January 5, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
