GUADALUPE ALVAREZ
ALAMO – Guadalupe Alvarez, 81, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at her daughter’s residence in San Juan.
Mrs. Alvarez was born in Alamo and had lived there all of her life. She attended Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo where she was a Guadalupana for many years. Our mom was a very loving and caring person who tried to teach us well. She was a humble woman who never saw or said anything bad about anyone.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Adolfo Alvarez; her parents, Juan and Alvarita Lopez; a sister, Elifonsa Perez; and a brother, Ventura Lopez.
Mrs. Alvarez is survived by two sons, Adolfo (Guadalupe) Alvarez, Jr., Armando (Olga) Alvarez, both of Alamo; three daughters, San Juanita (Luis) Escobedo, of Alamo, Irma (Rodolfo) Reyes, of San Juan, Mariana (Cesar) Quintero, of Dallas; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Maxima Villegas, Juanita Bursiaga, both of Lubbock, Texas, Carmen Mares, of Alamo; two brothers, Federico Lopez, of Lubbock, Texas and Bonifacio Lopez, of Alamo; and Virginia Rendon, of Alamo, who was like a sister to her.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, July 31, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
