EDINBURG - Mario Luis Alvarez, 68, died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at his residence in Edinburg.
Born in Hebbronville, TX., Mario had lived in Edinburg most of his life.
Mr. Alvarez is preceded in death by his parents, Arturo Luis and Adelfa Alvarez.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Garcia Alvarez of Edinburg; six children, Robert Alvarez of Corpus Christi, TX., Mario Luis (Ilene) Alvarez of Grand Prairie, TX., Nicholas Arturo Alvarez, Leah K. A. Alvarez, both of Corpus Christi, TX., Micah (Mike) Benson of Kansas, Tirzah Alvarez of Corpus Christi, TX.; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Arturo Antonio Alvarez of Hebbronville, TX., Elias (Yolanda) Alvarez of Edinburg, Jose Juan (Elizabeth) Alvarez of San Antonio, TX.; two sisters, Anna Maria Huerta of Hebbronville, TX., Estella (Fidel) Marquez of Houston, TX.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a 12:30 p.m. prayer service today, February 15, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Cremation will take place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
