PHARR - Eloisa B. Arjona, 80, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Born in McAllen, Mrs. Arjona had lived in Pharr most of her life and was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Pharr.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elijio Arjona, Sr.; and two sisters, Guadalupe Lozano and Julia Salas.
Mrs. Arjona is survived by two sons, Elijio (Josie T.) Arjona, Jr. of Austin, Texas, Erasmo (Alicia M.) Arjona of Pharr; a daughter, Eva A. (Ricardo) Carranza of Pharr; four grandchildren, Melissa Arjona, Erasmo David Arjona, Rebecca Denise Arjona and Mayra Carranza; four great-grandchildren, Faith Cantualla, Troy Cantualla, Nathan Rodriguez and Matthew Arjona; two brothers, Victor (Emma) Berrones, Jr. of McAllen, Casimiro Berrones of California; five sisters, Bertha Fuentes of Kyle, Texas, Mercedes Solana of Austin, Texas, Teresa (Louis) Pontius of Moore, Oklahoma, Maria Del Refugio "Cuca" (Chemo) Palacios of Pharr, Maria Inez Berrones of McAllen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eloisa's creative entrepreneurial spirit will be greatly missed and she left a beautiful legacy for her family.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary, today, May 21, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 11 am, Friday, May 22, 2009 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Pallbearers will be David Carranza, James Hampton, Gilbert Mendieta, Ciro Moya, George Palacios and Reynaldo Sandoval. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and Cecilio Hilario, Jr., a great-nephew.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
