ELVA AVENDANO ELGIN, IL — Elva Avendano, 66, of Elgin, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Alexian Brothers Hospice, after battling a short illness. She was born on December 28, 1948 in Pharr, Texas, the daughter of Elias and Petra Lechuga. Elva was raised by her grandparents, Juanita and Jose DeLeon. Elva was a devoted wife, and loving mother, grandmother and friend. She retired from Desoto Inc., in 1985 after 17 years of service. Elva was a very kind and generous person. She cared for everyone that came into her life and never turned anyone away, no matter the circumstances. Elva helped raise her grandchildren and did everything for everyone. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Lupe, Alfredo, Elias, Mario, Adolfo, Leonel, along with her grandparents. Elva is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ramiro Avendano Sr.; a son, Ramiro (Veronica) Avendano Jr.; her six grandchildren: Cescelia, Chasya, Julian, Julius, Chloe and Jerico; and by many godchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
