Delia Garza Ayala, 64, entered eternal rest Thursday, August 19, 2021.
Delia was born on January 10, 1957 to Adelino and Maria Andrea Garza. She lived her childhood years in Mercedes and was a graduate of the Class of 1975. She continued her post secondary education at Pan American University. Delia was a lifelong educator. She taught at Edcouch Elsa for 10 years. She then continued on to Donna ISD for the last 25 years of her career before retiring in May of 2013. Delia was a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, curriculum specialist, diagnostician and lastly a Special Ed. Director for Donna ISD.
Delia loved to travel. She enjoyed shopping and making jewelry and especially loved her Dallas Cowboys.
Of all her accomplishments, the most important to her was the role of "Tia," sister, and daughter.
Her nephews, nieces, brothers and sisters were the loves of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents Adelino and Maria Andrea Garza and brother, Mario Garza.
Delia is survived by her brothers, Rene (Lily) and Arnoldo from Mercedes, Adelino Garza Jr. from Pasadena and Noe (Alice) from Corpus Christi. Her sisters are Dalia (Juan) Gutierrez, Enedina (Cris) De La Cruz, and Norma (Raul) Ramirez, all from Edinburg.
Special thanks to all the medical personnel who played an important role in her well being.
Delia will be greatly missed and her memory will live on forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mercedes. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
