Dwayne Bair, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 16, 2022.
Dwayne attended Edinburg schools, graduated from high school in 1952, and attended Pan American College. Dwayne served in the US Army from 1954-1956. After leaving the service, he began farming with his brother, Howard, and his father, Lee.
He was involved in numerous agricultural boards. Dwayne was a member of and chaired Edinburg Farm Bureau, Hidalgo County Farm Bureau, Texas Citrus Mutual, Texas Fruit and Vegetable Committee, Texas Valley Citrus Committee, and Texas A & M Weslaco Citrus Research Committee. He was the last living member of the original ten men who created Texas Citrus Exchange (TCX), which is currently the juice plant in Mission, Texas.
His passion was flying and served on the Edinburg Advisory Airport Board for about 30 years.
Dwayne served as Director on National Bank of Commerce, First National Bank, and Valley Production and Credit Assn. (financing farmers and ranchers).
He belonged to the Edinburg First United Methodist Church where he served on multiple committees and sang in the choir for over 50 years.
The greatest accomplishment in his life was marrying his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Bair. Together they raised four children. Steve Bair, Scott Bair, Joan Bair, and Julie Bair McDonald. They have seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held for Dwayne on December 3rd at 10:00 am at Edinburg First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Edinburg First United Methodist Church Prayer Garden (3707 W. University Dr./TX-Hwy 107, Edinburg TX, 78541). Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.
