SAN JUAN - Juan R. "Big John" Balderas, 43, died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in McAllen, Mr. Balderas was formerly of Alamo and had lived in San Juan since 1997. He was employed by McAllen Police Department as a detention specialist.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Balderas.
Mr. Balderas is survived by his wife, Martha De Jesus Balderas of San Juan; three children, Juan Jose Balderas of Alton, Adriana Yvette Balderas and Jessica Yvonne Balderas, both of San Juan; his mother, Juanita Balderas of McAllen; and four brothers, Joe A. Balderas of Palestine, Texas, Joe M. Balderas, Saul Balderas and David Balderas, all of McAllen.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Suday, November 29, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2009 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
