CELIA BANDA
PHARR - Celia Banda, 86, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Born in Driscoll, Texas, Mrs. Banda was formerly of Hargill and had lived in Pharr since 1952. She was a member of Iglesia Buenas Nuevas Pentecostes in Pharr.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Adolfo Banda; three sisters; and three brothers.
Mrs. Banda is survived by 12 children, Maria B. (Mario) Hernandez, Gabino (Herlinda) Banda, both of Pharr, Juan (Elva) Banda, Hortencia (Juan) Garcia, Armando (Elva) Banda, all of Caldwell, Idaho, Lydia (Baldemar) Campos of Weslaco, Belia (Tony) Zepeda of San Antonio, Texas, Alicia (Arnold) Aguirre of San Juan, Emma Banda, Gloria (Isabel) Jaramillo, both of Alamo, Adolfo (Ana) Banda, Jr. of Yakima, Washington and David (Rosa) Banda of Dallas, Texas; 36 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, today, January 22, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Iglesia Buenas Nuevas Pentecostes in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
