SAN JUAN — The gates of Heaven were open on July 13th, 2013 to welcome our mom home at the age of 79. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and love and prayers from family and friends, carried her through a lengthy battle of Alzheimer’s. Born on January 20th, 1934 in San Juan, TX to Mauro and Juanita Trevino, mom was the fifth child of 8. She graduated from PSJA High School and attended Pan American College. She spent 30 years as a civil service employee where she held positions with US Immigration and US Customs. Mom will forever be known for her calm and loving nature. She was a very determined person who enjoyed long walks, the outdoors, shoe shopping and most importantly, spending time with her family. Arabella was a loving mother of 5 children, Clyde Jr. (Stephanie) Bartimus, San Antonio, TX, Theresa (Greg) Bittner, St. Louis, MO, Clarissa (Chris) Webb, Rosenberg, TX, Jason (Elena) Bartimus, McAllen, TX, and Iris (Duncan) Foshee, Jasper, TX. She was the Grandmother of 12 and Great Grandmother of 1. She is also survived by 5 brothers, Eleazar (Tiva) Trevino, Eluid Trevino, Oscar (Minerva) Trevino, Mauro Amando (Maria) Trevino and Sigifredo “Kiki” (Irma) Trevino and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Clyde Bartimus, her parents, Mauro and Juanita Trevino, two sisters, Hilda Irma Trevino and Esper Trevino, and a grandson Orlando “Orly” Villalobos. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, July 16th, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place Wednesday, July 17th, at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in San Juan. Interment will following at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
