GUADALUPE BENAVIDES EDINBURG - Guadalupe Benavides, 76, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Edinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Mexico, Mr. Benavides had lived in Edinburg most of his life. He is preceded in death by his son, Reymundo Benavidez. He is survived by his wife, Celia Benavidez of Edinburg; seven children, Zelma (Onesimo, Jr.) Perez of La Porte, TX, Reynaldo (Ana) Benavidez of Edinburg, Roel (Thelma) Benavidez of Frienswood, TX, Rudy (Lorena) Benavidez of Pasadena, TX, Irma (Eddie) Acosta of Richmond, TX, Elma (Jeremy Miller) Benavidez of Joplin, MO, and Rolando Benavidez of Edinburg; 18 grandchildren; three brothers, Jose Benavidez, Bernardino Benavidez, and Roberto Benavidez, all of Edinburg; two sisters, Eustolia Contreras of Edinburg and Olga Calderon of Donna. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, January 11, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
