ADOLFO BENAVIDEZ

PHARR - Adolfo Benavidez, 90, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Pflugerville Care Center.
Mr. Benavidez was born and lived in Pharr most of his life. He was currently residing in Pflugerville with his wife and daughters. He served the Lord for 55 years and was a faithful member of the Rock of Ages Assembly of God Church in Pharr. He is a veteran of the 592nd Army Air Forces Base Unit of the U.S. Army, and served during World War II.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Amadeo Benavidez and a sister, Emma Ebella.
Mr. Benavidez is survived by his wife, Irene Benavidez, of Pharr; five children, Beatrice Garza, of Midlothian, Texas, Irene (Jesus Jr.) Espinoza, Gloria Abigail (Jaime) Vela, Rebecca Ann (Oscar) Rodriguez, all of Pflugerville, Texas, Adolfo (Elpidia) Benavidez, Jr., of Pharr; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five sisters, Josefina Guerra, of Jacksonville, Florida, Olivia Martinez, of Pharr, Elisena Vasquez, of San Juan, Elva Mendiola and Jane Garza, both of McAllen; and two brothers, Erasmo Benavidez, of Pharr and Alonzo Benavidez, Jr., of Burnett, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm prayer service today, May 10, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 am Monday, May 11, 2009, at Rock of Ages Assembly of God in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. His grandsons, Raul Benavidez, Randy Garza, Todd Garza, Jon Garza, Michael Espinoza, Aaron Espinoza and Nathan Rodriguez will serve as pallbearers. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 101 of Pharr.
We know he will always be with us in our hearts, and is rejoicing with our Savior, Jesus Christ in Paradise.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
