EFRAIN BERNAL MISSION - Efrain Bernal, 61, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at LifeCare Hospital of South Texas in McAllen. Born in Valle Hermoso, Tamps., Mexico, Mr. Bernal had lived in Mission for 31 years and was formerly of Pharr. He was employed as a social worker for Colonias Del Valle and was a former Palmview City Manager. Mr. Bernal was a member of Iglesia Del Valle Santa Pentecostes in San Juan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Maria de Los Angeles Bernal; three brothers, Efren, Eleazar and Celestino Bernal. Mr. Bernal is survived by his wife, Maria C. Bernal, of Mission; four children, Cristina Perez, of Palmview, Diego Bernal, of San Antonio, Texas, Geena Munoz, Juan De Dios Munoz, both of Donna; six grandchildren, Celeste and Efrain Perez, Robert and Jason Martinez, Marco Coronado and Justin Castillo; a brother, Eliseo Bernal; a sister, Rosa Gaytan, both of Pharr. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, May 11, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Iglesia Del Valle Santa Pentecostes in San Juan. Interment will follow at PalmValley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
