MARIA BOCANEGRA
PHARR - Maria Bocanegra, 83, died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Born in San Pedro Ranch, Texas, Mrs. Bocanegra had lived in Pharr most of her life and was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Pharr.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Benito and Alvaro Bocanegra; a grandson, Ricardo "Ricky" Bocanegra; her parents, Manuel and Leonor Sanchez; and a sister, Celia Gallegos.
Mrs. Bocanegra is survived by her husband, Primitivo C. Bocanegra of Pharr; two daughters, Maria (Gonzalo) Ramirez of San Juan, Nora Ruiz of Pharr; a daughter-in-law, Alma G. Bocanegra of Pharr; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary, today, May 20, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 am, Thursday, May 21, 2009 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
