AMALIA BORREGO ESTRADA
EDINBURG — Amalia Borrego Estrada, a lifelong resident of Edinburg was called home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 23, 2015, at the age of 81.
She was born in Taft, Texas on October 9, 1934 to Francisco and Adela Borrego.
Amalia is preceded in death by her husband, Amando Estrada; her parents; five brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by eight children, Amando Estrada, Jr. of San Antonio, Lucia E. (Javier) Gracia of Austin, Sylvia E. (Gilbert) Treviño, Rosalinda E. (Victor) Cantu, Rene (Ana) Estrada, Roberto (Dora) Estrada, Ruben Estrada, Josefina (Steve) Saenz, all of Edinburg; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Angel, Jose, Ernesto, Francisco and Vicente Borrego; and four sisters, Adela Rodriguez, Belia Villarreal, Olivia Amaya and Lupita Garcia.
Amalia was surrounded by love and respect from all her family. She will be deeply missed but her memories will live in the hearts of all her family, friends and those whose lives she touched. Amalia is now at peace and praying for her family and friends.
The Estrada family would like to extend special a “Thank You” to all who helped and cared for her including her caregivers, Maria Rodriguez, Juanita Treviño and Christina Ostos on her last days here on earth.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, December 27, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Her sons and grandsons will have the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers.
