LINO BRIONES September 23, 1913 – September 09, 2015 EDINBURG - Lino Briones, 101, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, September 09, 2015, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Dr. Arroyo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, he had lived in Edinburg all of his life. A most humble kind, hardworking, caring person who loved to be outside, steadily keeping busy while watching wrestling and baseball, he lived a full, blessed and healthy life. With many stories to tell, he often spoke of his adventures to his grandkids. Loved by so many he will be greatly missed by all. God Bless his soul; may he rest in peace. He is preceded in death by his wife, Zulema Longoria Briones; his parents, Susana Quiroz Briones and Cristobal Briones; two brothers Julio and Severiano; and a sister, Anita Briones. Lino is survived by two children, Hilma Lozano of Houston and Lino (Carlota) Briones Jr. of Edinburg; five grandchildren, Michael (Liz) Lozano of Hayward California, Jaime (Dora) Lozano of Houston, Norma Linda Lozano of Houston, Sergio (Yvette) Briones of Edinburg, Alberto (Cruzita) Briones of Edinburg; 13 great- grandchildren; seven great- great- grandchildren; two brothers, Camilo (+Susie) Briones of Edinburg and Prudencio (Zoila) Briones of Pasco, Washington; a sister, Margarita (+Herculano) Sanchez of Edinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2015, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor of serving as pallbearers are Michael Lozano, Jaime Lozano, Sergio Briones, Alberto Briones, Jaime Lozano Jr. and Ruben Martinez. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Joseph Lozano, Ty Nikolas Briones and Sergio Sebastian Briones. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
