JULIO CAMPOS EDINBURG - Julio Campos, 71, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in Edinburg. Born in Mexico, Mr. Campos had lived in Edinburg most of his life. Julio was the first of his family to take the journey to the United States. At the age of 25 he became a house painter and worked for many public servants in Edinburg. He later brought most of his brothers to the United States, for which all of them have always thanked him for. As he grew older he loved to pass his time talking to friends at the local HEB on Closner Blvd.; usually spending most of the day there. He is preceded in death by his father, Ambrocio Campos; two brothers, Merced Campos, Tirso Campos; and a sister, Fileberta Perez. Julio is survived by six children, Carlos Campos of Edinburg, Beyanira Campos of Austin, TX, Teresa Campos of Reynosa, Tamps., MX, Jose Guadalupe Campos, Julio Campos, Jr., both of S.L.P., MX; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his mother, Gregoria Campos Barron of S.L.P., MX; seven siblings, Ignacia (Leonardo) Melendez of Edinburg, Zenaida (Mateo) Serna of S.L.P., MX, Dolores (Juan) Martinez of Edinburg, Roberto Campos, Augusto Campos, Maria (Gerado) Vasquez, all of S.L.P., MX, Martin (Maria De Jesus) Campos of Dallas, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Friday, June 27, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. The family would like to thank all of the people who over the years helped and watched over him. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
