Alma Alicia Cano~Howell
December 3, 1949 — December 10, 2017
MERCEDES- Alma Alicia Cano-Howell, 68, went to be with our Lord on a beautiful Sunday morning, December 10, 2017.
Alma was born to Israel and Rosita Cano on December 3, 1949. She was a daughter, sister, mother and tía. She was an educator for 40 years and dedicated her entire career working with special needs children. She amazed all who knew her at how much she could care for her students, and still have enough love for her family.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Rosita and Israel Cano, Sr.; two brothers, Israel Cano, Jr. and Eloy Cano, Sr.; a sister, Raquel “Kelly” Galvan.
She is survived by her four children, Erika Michelle (Michael) Faubion of Edinburg, Henry Joe (Zelda) Howell III of Katy, TX, Kevin Michael (Rebekah) Howell of Paraguay , Monica Alyssa (Julio) Trevino of Mercedes; nine grandchildren, Erik Conner Faubion, William Henry Faubion, Noel Michael Faubion, Micah David Howell, Alicia Carol Howell, Alyssa Delia Trevino, Liam James Howell, and Genevieve Cecilia Howell; two siblings, Rosa Elia Garza of Mercedes and Rogelio Cano (Isabel) of Harlingen; two sisters-in-law, Petra Cano and Zulema Cano of Harlingen; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dear friends of many years, Hector and Susana Martinez of Mercedes.
Thank you Laura Martinez and Idolina Lopez for the love and care provided to Alma. We are grateful that God blessed her with these wonderful women.
A celebration of Alma’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017, at Rio Life Community Church in 1112 S. Rio Rico Road, Mercedes, TX 78570.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.
