Cynthia "Cristy" Cantu

CYNTHIA “CRISTY” CANTU EDINBURG – Cynthia “Cristy” Cantu, 43, died Thursday, April 23, 2015, at her residence in Edinburg. Cynthia was born in Edinburg and had lived there all of her life. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was employed at Evins Regional Juvenile Detention Center. Cristy was very family oriented; she enjoyed hosting BBQ’s at her home for family gatherings and playing softball. She always strived to make sure that everyone around her was happy. Her family and friends will remember her for the love and care she showed everyone, her boys, brothers, sister, parents, and extended family and friends. Cristy is survived by two sons, Roy and Gabriel Rodriguez; her parents, Beatrice and Gilbert Cantu, Sr.; two brothers, Manuel (Jacqueline) Cantu and Gilbert Cantu; a sister, Dina Cantu (Larry) Vega, all of Edinburg; two nephews; and two nieces. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2015, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
