Dolores "Lolita" Cantu

DOLORES "LOLITA" CANTU SAN JUAN — Dolores "Lolita" Cantu, 94, died Friday, March 27, 2015, at San Juan Nursing Home. Dolores was born on January 22, 1921 in Cd. Victoria, Tamps., Mexico. She married Carlos Cantu and lived in Mexico until they migrated to the United States. They travelled to Indiana and Idaho where they worked in the fields. She loved to cook – whatever dish she prepared, it was very delicious. Lolita was a compassionate, caring and lovable person with a contagious smile. She had been a resident of San Juan Nursing Home for five years where she enjoyed making friends at what she called her “Home Sweet Home.” She is preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Cantu; and a daughter, Maria Guadalupe Cantu. Dolores is survived by six children, Rosa Alma (Jose) De Valle, Pablo (Celerina) Cantu, both of Nampa, Idaho, Juan Cantu, Jose Cantu, Ramon (Paula) Cantu, all of Pharr and Norma (Reynaldo) Olvera, of Alamo; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, March 30, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. The family would like to thank Dr. Max Hernandez and Dr. Mercado, staff (Linda, Lupita, Raul, Tina, Carrie and caretakers) for providing continuous comfort at San Juan Nursing Home. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
