ERNESTO CANTU
EDINBURG – Ernesto Cantu, 65, passed away December 15, 2011 at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Santa Fe Ranch, Edinburg, Texas, Mr. Cantu most recently lived in Edinburg.
Mr. Cantu was a dedicated educator having taught for 41 years starting at McAllen High School and retired from Weslaco High School in 2010.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel “Chon” Encarnacion and Maria Elena Cantu.
Mr. Cantu is survived by his wife Oneida Cantu of Edinburg; a son, Miguel Alberto (Beth) Cantu of Bristow, Virginia; a brother, Manuel Cantu of Michigan; three sisters, Lile Loya of Encino, Cristina Villarreal of La Feria, and Elia Garza of Galveston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, December 18, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery.
