Eduardo "Ed" Cantu III, 68, entered eternal rest Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance.
Born in Mercedes, he had lived in Edinburg for 32 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ed worked as a videographer with KRGV TV for ten years and was later employed by PSJA ISD for 25 years, at PSJA High School and PSJA North High School. He enjoyed music by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, and enjoyed playing tennis and golf. His favorite sports teams were the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and the Boston Celtics. Ed loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo Cantu Jr. and Amalia King; and two brothers, Rudy Cantu and Arnold Cantu.
Ed is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nora T. Cantu of Edinburg; three sons, Eduardo (Sarah) Cantu IV, Michael Peter (Brandi) Cantu, both of Edinburg, Jonathon Ryan (Gracie) Cantu of Harlingen; six grandchildren, Myles, Eddie V, Delilah, Amalia, James and Olivia; and two sisters, Sylvia Cantu of Dallas and Belinda Taylor of McAllen.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Memorial mass will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
