MARIA L. CANTU EDINBURG - Maria L. Cantu, 89, died Monday, July 22, 2013 at Doctor's Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. Mrs. Cantu was born in San Marcos, TX and had lived in Edinburg all of her life. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Felipe Cantu; and a son, Felipe "Pipo" Cantu Jr. Mrs. Cantu is survived by four sons; Leonel (San Juana) Cantu, Jesus (Angelica) Cantu, Armando (Petra) Cantu, Rodolfo Cantu, all of Edinburg; a daughter Maria Cruz (+ Emeterio) Vega, of Mercedes; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, July 24, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
