DIANA CARDENAS
EDINBURG – Diana Cardenas, 68, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.
Diana was born on May 10, 1949 and was a lifelong resident of Edinburg. She worked for Edinburg CISD where she dedicated 32 years to Elementary Education. Many of those years were spent taking her nieces and nephews to LBJ Elementary every morning, which she found joy in. She was honored to be a second mother to all seven of them. Most recently she spent her time with her beloved sister, Dahlia, best friend, Margaret, and caregiver, Lydia singing, dancing, and telling many stories. Diana enjoyed going for drives, getting visits from friends, family and her fur babies Louie, Willy and Sugar. Diana will be remembered for her love of perfumes, pets, and always knowing the latest news. She was so proud of the accomplishments of her family and friends. She was so thankful for all the love and care from doctors, nurses, her caregiver, family and friends. Most of all, she was thankful to her Heavenly Father for allowing her to continue spending quality time with others through visits, phone calls, and the recent messages and serenades that came her way during her birthday May 10th, Dia de Las Madres. Diana loved life and wanted nothing more than to see those around her happy. Her light will continue to shine.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Sofia Garcia; her parents, Ben and Zulema Cardenas; and a brother, Dan Cardenas.
Diana is survived by two siblings, Dahlia Cardenas Villarreal of Edinburg, Ben Cardenas Jr. of Corpus Christi; nieces and nephews, Andrea Villarreal, James Villarreal, JoAnn Villarreal, David Cardenas, Denise (Jaime Sifuentes) Cardenas, Dan Cardenas II, Dina Cardenas; great-nephews, Leon and Wolf Sifuentes; a sister in law, Diana S.
