MARIA MICAELA CARDENAS

San Juan – Maria Micaela Cardenas, 79, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at her residence in San Juan.

Mrs. Cardenas was born in San Luis Potosi, MX. She had lived in McAllen most of her life, and spent the last 26 years of her life in San Juan. Maria was a member of Comunidad Cristiana La Nueva Esperanza in San Juan.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Yolanda Gutierrez.

Maria is survived by her husband, Alfonso Cardenas of San Juan; eight children, Alfonso Cardenas, Jr. of Brenham, Texas, Juan Antonio Cardenas of Pharr, Blanca Esthella Lopez, Arturo Cardenas, both of San Juan, Martin Cardenas of Dallas, TX, Jose Manuel Cardenas of Edinburg, Maria Del Carmen Vasquez of San Juan, Claudia Margarita Garcia of Pharr; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Rey Torres of Brenham, TX, Olivia Olvera of Alamo, Juan Torres of Reynosa, MX, Daniel Torres of McAllen, Felipe Torres of California.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Pallbearers will be Joe Nathaniel Vasquez, Jose Manuel Cardenas, Martin Cardenas, Juan Antonio Cardenas, Arturo Cardenas, Alfonso Cardenas, Jr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
