On the afternoon of September 7, 2021, God called upon his son, Omar A. Casas, devoted husband, father, son-in-law, and friend who passed away in Edinburg, Texas. He was born in McAllen, Texas, on September 26, 1955, son of Jose P. Casas and Hilda P. Casas.
Omar lived his life to the fullest. He loved spending time with his family that meant the most to him, his wife, children, and in-laws Ubaldo Gonzalez and Maria C. Gonzalez, who treated him with love and the utmost respect. He would often reminisce and think of the moments he spent with his beloved aunt Belen Casas. He found joy in barbecuing with his son and father-in-law at their ranch. He also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, watching sci-fi and western movies, watching sports, playing guitar and piano with his son, and loved listening to music; his favorite songs were 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago and My Sweet Lord by George Harrison. Omar wanted to become an educator and had the privilege to work among co-workers who later became good friends over the course of 27 years. He graduated from McHi in McAllen, Texas, and attended the University of Texas-Pan American, receiving his bachelor's in science. He worked as an educator teaching biology and coached multiple sports at Edinburg North High School and Economedes High School. After retiring from the Edinburg district, he continued as an educator at Evins Regional Juvenile Center, where he proudly taught for seven years. Omar took pride and great integrity in his work and reported to his job till the last day he could. He also took great pride in his children. Through his guidance, his son Omar A. Casas Jr graduated with his bachelor's in science and was proud of the career path he followed. He also took tremendous pride in supporting the writing career of his daughter Gabby Casas as she pursued her master's degree in English literature. Omar was a loving, caring individual and was committed to the family he loved the most. He was a joy to be around and a man of so much knowledge. He leaves his legacy through his son and daughter, and we will forever be grateful and treasure the moments together.
While no words can begin to describe his impact on those he considered family, Omar was an exemplary father, husband, and person. His presence will be greatly missed, and the love his family has for him will be infinite as we treasured every moment God graced us with his presence.
"I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety" Psalm 4:8
Omar is survived by the love of his life, his wife Esmeralda G. Casas, and their children Omar A. Casas Jr and Gabrielle Casas.
