SIMON CASAS
EDINBURG – Simon Casas, 84, died Sunday, August 22, 2010, at his residence in Edinburg.
Born in Pharr, Mr. Casas had lived in Edinburg most of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Vicenta Casas; two sisters, Dolores Barrientes and Guadalupe Ruiz; three brothers, Juan Casas, Simon Casas and Manuel Casas.
Mr. Casas is survived by his wife, Sofia Casas of Edinburg; eight children, Olga (Lauro) Galaviz, Irma Casas, Maria (Ernesto) Gaona, Teresa (Humberto) Hernandez, Simon (Louisa) Casas, Jaime (Margie) Casas, all of Edinburg, Berta (Jorge) Perez and Estela (Benito) Perez, both of San Juan; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three Great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lala Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, August 24, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Pallbearers will be Erik Galaviz, Jerry Gaona, Hector Hernandez, Simon Casas III, Stephen Casas and J.J. Perez.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
