ABELINA CASTANEDA DONNA – Abelina Castañeda, 96, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at her residence in Donna. Born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico Mrs. Castañeda had lived in Donna most of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Castañeda; and a son, Roy Castañeda. Mrs. Castaneda is survived by 5 sons, Jose (Paula) Castañeda, Ramiro Castañeda, Esequiel Castañeda, Rosendo (Linda) Castañeda and Fidel (Lorenza) Castañeda; 4 daughters, Amelia (Andres) Pedraza, Abelia (Herman) Sanchez, Ofelia (David) Montemayor and Olga (Mando) Garza; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, March 14, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donna. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in Weslaco.
