MONICA A. CASTELLANO MCALLEN – Monica A. Castellano, 31, died Monday, December 3, 2012, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. Born in San Antonio, Monica had lived in McAllen for seven years. She attended Runge ISD where she was a cheerleader, a drum major and graduated as Valedictorian in 2000. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M-Kingsville and a master’s degree from UTPA. She was currently employed by Idea School in Donna. Monica is survived by her husband, Mauricio Castellano, of McAllen; mother, Diana Todd, of Atascosa; father, Joel Rupard, of San Antonio; dad, Lance Todd, of Atascosa; mom, Raquel Castellano; pop, Eugenio Castellano, both of McAllen; sisters, Shanell Rupard, Sara Rupard – Vega, both of San Antonio, Melissa Castellano, of McAllen; and lots of family and friends. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. memorial service today, December 5, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made to her husband. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
