GUMERCINDO “GUME” CASTILLEJA
EDINBURG – Gumercindo “Gume” Castilleja, 77, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Mr. Castilleja was born in Dr. Arroyo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and had lived in Edinburg most of his life. He was well-known as a jewelry repairman and was employed by Webb’s Jewelers for over 20 years until he opened his own business, Essence Jewelers, in Edinburg.
A blessing from the Lord, he will always be missed but never forgotten. Love, your children.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Lupita Moreno.
Mr. Castilleja is survived by his wife, Martha Castilleja, of Edinburg; five children, Araceli (Guadalupe) Garces, of Edinburg, Elva (Pete) Rivera, of Dallas, Texas, Elizabeth Mejia, Sandra (David R.) Cantu, Gumercindo (Yvette) Castilleja, Jr., all of Edinburg; ten grandchildren, Lupito, Jeanette, Michael, Joseph, David Roy, Joe Daniel, Lori, Jeanelle, Bianca Lee, Jeremy; a sister, Maria Castilleja, and a brother, Ramiro Castilleja, both of Washington.
A prayer service was held Monday, March 2, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 am today, March 3, 2009, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
