DINA M. CASTILLO EDINBURG - Dina M. Castillo, 39, died Saturday, December 29, 2012, at her residence in Edinburg. Born in McAllen, Dina had lived in Edinburg all of her life and was a devoted 8 year employee of the City of Edinburg. Her enthusiasm for her home town, her loyalty to coworkers, and her persistence in making sure things were done correctly will be missed. Recognized as the City of Edinburg "Employee of the Month" is proof of her dedication and attention to detail. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Rosa S. Garza and Julio Garza; paternal grandparents, Antonio and Fidela Moreno Castillo; and a brother, Ruben Orlando Castillo. Dina is survived by her fiancé, Michael Martinez; a son, Rene Flores; two daughters, Rebekah Renee Rodriguez, Karina Nicole Castillo; her parents, Ruben and Rosa Velia "Rosie" Castillo; two brothers, Gerardo "Jerry" (Leslie) Castillo, Isaac Roel Castillo; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Gonzalez, all of Edinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dina's love and devotion to her children was unmatched. It would be an understatement to simply say she gave and did everything for her kids. The long hours of athletic practices, traveling to sport events, homework, and the counseling after victories and losses were all part of the life lessons she wanted to leave her children. Her children and family will miss her every day, but will always carry the lessons she taught and her enduring love. A rosary was held Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today, December 31, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at La Soledad Cemetery in San Isidro. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
