MARIA V. CASTILLO
ALAMO - Maria V. Castillo, 82, went to be with the Lord surrounded by family, Monday, January 26, 2009 at LifeCare Hospitals of South Texas in McAllen.
Born in Sugarland, Texas, Mrs. Castillo had lived in Alamo most of her life. She was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo and also an active member of Las Guadalupanas, Altar Society, and a Eucharistic Minister. She resided at the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home.
She is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rosario Castillo; her parents, Estefana T. and Enemencio Villarreal; sisters and brothers, Maria Guadalupe Contreras, Martha Salinas, Rodolfito Villarreal and twins Socorro Villarreal and Rodolfito Villarreal; a granddaughter, Maria Raquel Reyna; and a great-grandson, Isaac Ortega.
Mrs. Castillo is survived by her husband, Pedro S. Castillo of Alamo; seven children, Eusebia A. Castillo of Pharr, Carmen C. West of San Juan, Pete and daughter-in-law Maria Guadalupe Castillo of Delano, California, Perfecto David and daughter-in-law Maria P. Castillo, Maria Del Rosario and son-in-law Felix Reyna, Eddie Castillo and Guadalupe Alicia Castillo, all of Alamo; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; six brothers and sisters, Rafael Villarreal of Mission, Magdalena Nickson, Oralia Talamantez, Eutilio Villarreal, Lydia Casas and Aurora Porter, all of San Antonio, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, today, January 27, 2009 and from 5 to 9 p.m. with 7 p.m. rosary, Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
