SAN JUAN - Rene Castro, 19, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Edinburg, Rene had lived in San Juan all of his life and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Linda Gomez; maternal grandfather, Audencio Gomez; and a cousin, Jennifer Gomez.
Rene is survived by his father, Emilio Castro of McAllen; a sister, Margarita (Simon) Almanza; maternal grandmother, Margarita Gomez; four aunts, Aida Saldana, Diana (Juan) Alonzo, Margarita Hernandez and Hermelinda Gomez; two uncles, Audencio (Carmen) Gomez, Jr. and Juan Gomez, all of San Juan; and numerous cousins.
A rosary was held Friday, March 20, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., today, March 21, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Cremation will take place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
