Homer Rolando Cavazos, 68, entered eternal rest Monday, September 27, 2021, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. He fought a good fight and lived life to the fullest.
Homer was a life-long resident of Edinburg and a veteran of the United States Army where he received many commendations for his Marksmanship. He was an Avid Hunter and pool player, loved cooking and BBQing for his family and friends while watching his football and baseball teams.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hilario (Lalo) Cavazos and Nellie Tagle Cavazos; and a brother, Mario Cavazos.
Mr. Cavazos is survived by his love of his life, his wife, Maria Luisa (Mary Lou) DeLaFuente Cavazos; three children, Jason Cavazos, Anthony Cavazos, Theresa Cavazos Fortney; a grandson, Max Fortney; and a brother, Jaime Cavazos.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. memorial service Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa.
