JULIA ANN CHAMPION EDINBURG - Julia Champion, 88, went to be with the Lord Monday, April 14, 2014, at Southwest General Hospital in San Antonio, TX. Born in Palacios, TX, Mrs. Champion had lived in Edinburg most of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Champion, Jr.; a son, Alexander Champion, III; a daughter, Karen Elizabeth Rusilko; and her parents, Juan and Consuelo Rodriguez. Julia is survived by five children, Catherine (Doyle) Slayton of Harlingen, Lucille Champion of Devine, TX, Charles Joseph (Aurora) Champion of Edinburg, Chris (Gina) Champion of Devine, TX, Cynthia (Luis) Ramirez of Pharr; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Vargas of Palacios, TX, Mary Long, Delfina Dupree, both of Houston, TX. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, April 17, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
