RAYMOND W. CHAMPION JR. PHARR- Mr. Raymond W. Champion Jr. was a member of a very prominent family from Brownsville, TX. He went to be with the lord on Monday, October 8, 2012 at McAllen Medical Center. He was born in Beeville, TX on February 14, 1935 to Mr. Raymond William Champion Sr. and Mrs. Rosa Raigosa Champion, he was a graduate of Lyford High School and attended Texas A & M University in College Station and was a graduate of Texas Pan American University with a degree in accounting . He was an Educational Consultant with Region One of Edinburg, TX, until he retired, Mr. Champion was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church of Pharr, TX. Raymond served his country during the Korea War and the Berlin Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Gloria Fowler. Mr. Champion is survived by his wife Magda R. Champion from Pharr, and his five children, Raymond W. Champion III of San Antonio, Shawn Champion of Seguin, TX, Randall Champion of New Braunfels TX, Michael Ray Champion of Pharr, and Dawn Sprew of Tomball, TX; three grandchildren, Sarah Rivas, Hailey Champion and Adan Sprew; one sister Jo Yvonne Ulrick from McAllen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends today, Thursday, October 11, 2012 between 5 pm to 9 pm with a rosary at 7 pm at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October, 12, 2012 at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Pharr, TX. Interment will follow at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, TX. Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 8788. Serving as Pallbearers will be Raymond Champion III, Shawn Arthur Champion, Randall Champion, Michael Ray Champion, Jesus Hector Rodriguez, Guadalupe Ramos. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ralph Ulrick. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
