CYNTHIA LETICIA CHAVEZ EDINBURG — Cynthia Leticia Chavez, 61, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at her residence. Born in San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Chavez had lived in Edinburg for 20 years and was formerly of Pharr. She was a member of Antioch Bible Church. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Zaragosa Gonzalez; her father, Luis Briones; and her grandmothers, Consuelo Rodriguez and Maria Alma Gonzalez. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her husband, Ismael Chavez, of Edinburg; four children, Maru (John) Falletich, Chiara (Rick) Cavazos, Ismael Z. Chavez, all of Edinburg, Gladys (Jorge) Cortez, of Austin, Texas, three grandchildren, Matthew Edward Falletich, Valeria Anahi Valenzuela, Samuel Cortez; her mother, Magda Margot Gonzalez, of Edinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Melva Palacios and the doctors and nurses of Doctors Hospital at Renaissance for the care given to Mrs. Chavez. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. memorial service Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
