LUCIA CHAVEZ McALLEN - Lucia Chavez, 69, died Monday, September 17, 2012, at McAllen Medical Center. Born in Mexico, Lucia lived in McAllen all of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Julio and Maria Esmerejilda Gutierrez; two brothers, Julio Jr. and Valentin Gutierrez. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her husband, Mauricio Chavez, of McAllen; six children, John Anthony (Sylvia) Chavez, of La Joya, Lydia Eileen Chavez, Regino (Janette) Chavez, bothof San Antonio, Mauricio (Roxanne) Chavez, David Christian (Valisha) Chavez, both of Floresville; 13 grandchildren; nine siblings, Anastacio Gutierrez, Maria Suarez, Minerva Garcia, Alicia Yescas, Nieves Castellano, Juana Gutierrez, Rogelio Gutierrez, Jesus Gutierrez, Esteban Gutierrez, Rosie Arredondo and Linda Gutierrez, all of McAllen. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan, followed by a 3 p.m. funeral service at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Cremation will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
