Norma Cobb

NORMA COBB PHARR – Norma Cobb, 83, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Life Care South Hospital in McAllen. Born in Pharr, she had lived in Indiana many years. Mrs. Cobb is a P-SJ-A graduate, who studied photography at Sam Houston State Teachers College, which now is Sam Houston University. She also graduated from McAllen Municipal Hospital X-Ray School as a Radiological Technologist. Mrs. Cobb had managed the X-Ray department at the old Mission Hospital for a few years before moving to Indianapolis, IN. While in Indiana, she worked as a technologist for the same group of doctors for about 30 years. She became a member of First Free Methodist Church. In 1999 she moved back to Pharr and worked as a substitute teacher for four years; as well as, volunteering as an ESL teacher for Pharr Literacy Project for seven years. She also was a long time member of La Trinidad United Methodist Church. Mrs. Cobb is preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Cobb; parents, Jose Garza and Aurora Rendon Rodriguez; a brother, Federico “Lico” Garza; a sister, Nilda G. Ramos; a niece, baby Candelaria “Candy” Ramos; and an aunt, Nora R. Garza. She is survived by two sons, Federico Ramos and Randy Joe (Denae) Ramos of Indianapolis, IN.; a stepson, Dale Cobb of Madison, IN; one daughter, Rosemarie (William) Cain of San Juan Capistrano, CA.; seven grandchildren, Monica Rose (Oscar) Ponce, Christina Marie Cain, Rebecca Rose Cain, all of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Summer Rose Ramos, Randall Joseph Carvin Ramos, and Zac Coghill, all of Indianapolis, IN, and Randal Scott Malcolm of Jacksonville, FL; three great-grandchildren, Andres Cain, Antonio and Lorena Ponce, all of San Juan Capistrano, CA.; four nephews, Estanislado Ramos, Francisco (+Sandra) Garza, Oscar (Mary) Garza, and Ricardo (Guadalupe) Garza; and two nieces, Rosalinda (Ubaldo) Ramirez, and Aurora (Ernest) Alaniz. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, July 18, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at La Trinidad United Methodist Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
